MEET YOUR JUDGES

CHRISTY ADAMSON

Christy is an extremely versatile actor who has over 20 years experience. She has performed in 5 productions of Cats, most recently at the Panasonic Theatre in downtown Toronto. A highlight of her career was learning puppetry to spend over a year starring as Joey and Topthorn in the Dora Award winning play War Horse, developed by The National Theatre of London. Most recently she starred as Tanya in Mamma Mia! at the Citadel Theatre. Christy has been a part of two US National tours including Saturday Night Fever, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Christy has been the Resident Director and Dance Captain on countless productions and was the Assistant Choreographer on three seasons of Canadian Idol and the 18th annual Gemini Awards.

Christy is trained in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Afro-Caribbean, and Tap. She has completed her advanced exams in RAD ballet and ISTD modern. She trained with the Pennsylvania Ballet before embarking upon a career as a principal dancer with a contemporary dance company based on the style of Lester Horton. While with the OMO Dance Company Christy travelled as far as Macedonia and Turkey. Christy has choreographed, taught master classes and workshops all over Canada and the US, including the University of Michigan, Randolph College for the performing arts, CANi Dance Convention, the Surrey Festival of Dance, and regularly guest teaches at Metro Movement.

Christy is passionate about sharing her love of dance while mentoring the next generation of artists in a positive and supportive way.

Christy lives in Toronto with her wonderful husband Cory, and her magical daughter Ella.

Janice Lynn

Janice Lynn has been involved in dance education for the past 36 years. She owned and was the Artistic Director of a successful dance studio in Whitby, Ontario for 27 years. Currently, she is teaching tap, jazz, acrobatics and pre school movement classes in three private schools in Toronto, Whitby and Ajax. She proudly represents the B.A.T.D. (British Association of Teachers of Dancing) as a Fellow Member certified in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Acrobatics, Freestyle and Stage, as an Examiner and is the current BATD Toronto Regional District Secretary.

Janice’s true passion is for dance education. Her passion extends to training teachers in the B.A.T.D. professional syllabi. Her students participate in annual dance examinations achieving top marks, competitions, year end recitals and charity events. Under her direction, many of her students have won prestigious awards both locally and internationally. Many of her students have gone onto professional careers in dance including studio owners, cruise line performers, theatrical performers and singers.

Janice has adjudicated at both the regional and national level in Canada. She is a member of the Professional Adjudicators Alliance, is a Pre School, Module one and two certified instructor in Acrobatic Arts, holds her Acro Dance Adjudicator Certification and completed her teacher training course at the Tap Dance Centre in 2018. It is Janice’s belief that education in dance is vital to our industry and therefore continues to expand her knowledge and training each year by taking part in seminars and conventions along with weekly vocal, ballroom and guitar lessons that help her maintain high standards. Her ongoing passion and focus is in encouraging and developing young performers. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge with many more dancers.

NANCY PEZZO

Nancy has been recognized as a professional performer and dance educator for many years. Her strong choreographic skills and strong technical training has enabled her to be successful in the dance world. She is highly respected for her ability to challenge her students to achieve their highest potential.

A graduate of Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto, Nancy has intense training in classical ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, pedagogy to name a few. Her experience in acting, has allowed her to appear in commercials with CTS Television Studios. Her talent has been recognized by several respectable talent agencies and included a scholarship for the International Model and Talent Network (IMTN) held in New York City where she was scouted from the cast director to be selected to appear on the Young and the Restless. Nancy has a very creative imagination which has given her opportunities to work on choreographic projects for Hudson Bay Company, Lancôme Paris, Toyota, Reitmans, Zellers, TD Bank Financial Group and many more.

Nancy has taught classical and contemporary ballet, lyrical and jazz at several organizations throughout North America, including DX Dance Events Minneapolis, Dance Manitoba Inc., New York Dance Experience and several in-house studio workshops. Nancy is on faculty as a guest teacher at Joy of Dance Centre and Teacher’s College as a classical ballet teacher. She currently resides as a full-time ballet educator at several recognized competitive dance institutions teaching graded and vocational level students.

She is a Registered Teacher, Mentor and Practical Teaching Supervisor with the Royal Academy of Dance. In addition, her certifications include honors with Imperial Society Teachers of Dance (ISTD) for Modern and National, International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA), Professional Adjudicators Alliance (PAA), International Academy of Dance Adjudicators (IADA). An established and reputable Dance Adjudicator for several respectable dance competitions across North America also appeared as a Guest Judge for the World Championships of Performing Arts held in Hollywood California.

A renowned Dance Educator, Choreographer and Performer; also adds her expertise and advice with Industry Dance Magazine. Nancy also continues her connection and ongoing involvement with both the Toronto International Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival. Nancy continues to teach for several workshop and convention classes throughout North America and is one of Toronto’s most highly regarded ballet educators. As an instructor, Nancy teaches at varied dance schools throughout the Greater Toronto Area and has been the recipient of many choreography awards. Her combined career experiences have enabled her to become a well-rounded professional in the dance field. She is particularly eager to share her experiences, passion and love for dance with today’s young dancers.
